Distinguished Scholar Award Submissions

The Distinguished Scholar Award is awarded to two graduating seniors in the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences who have excelled academically and shown commitment to scholarship through participation in research or other academic leadership activities. The prize recognizes exceptional achievement in one or more areas of work:

  • excellence in course study,
  • research or other scholarship that shows originality and a depth of knowledge or understanding in the field,
  • significant out-of-class or off-campus activity related to an academic field, or
  • significant contributions to the growth and improvement of their department, school or the university.

Nomination packages for this award must include:

  • A letter of support of no more than three pages from a faculty member on behalf of the department.
  • Short statement from the nominated student where they discuss achievements that they are most proud of (no longer than a page).
  • Short statement from the DUS and/or Department Chair in support of the nomination.
  • Copy of the student's résumé.

Only applications from students whose home school is the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences will be accepted.
