Alicia Quayson joined CCAS in August, 2018 as an Academic Success Coach. Originally from New Jersey, Alicia has supported the academic success, mental health, and well being of diverse individuals across the developmental lifespan at Georgian Court University, Department of Human Services of Ocean Township, New Jersey, and Ocean Mental Health Services, Inc. From these experiences, Alicia learned that she loves working with at-risk youth, adolescents, and emerging adult populations. Upon relocating to DC to begin a PhD program in Counseling, Alicia has continued supporting students through her roles as a staff assistant for GW's Disability Support Services, a teaching assistant in GSEHD's graduate counseling programs, and a doctoral supervisor in GSEHD's community counseling clinic. Alicia is currently advancing her clinical skills through a doctoral internship with Inova Behavioral Health. Alicia is also involved in mental health research that promotes resilience and cultural sensitivity for diverse groups, in wellness practices and counselor training. Alicia is currently pursing a Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling at GW. She earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgian Court University, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Rider University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Rider University. When not working, Alicia is baking, reading or discovering parts of the DMV area, with her friends and family.
