Favorite college class: During my senior year at Howard, I took a Race & Public Policy course that inspired me to go to law school.

Marcus Ware is an Assistant Director of Advising for the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences. As a first-generation college graduate, Marcus has always been passionate about helping students get to and through college while discovering how their skills and passions align with their long-term career choices. Selected as a member of the fourth class of the Gates Millennium Scholars Program, Marcus later returned to work for the program as a Senior Manager responsible for engaging students, families, and administrators throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast region. He has also worked at Howard University and the Flamboyan Foundation committed to helping as many people as possible navigate the journey through higher education.
Passionate about international travel and leadership development, Marcus founded a Global Leadership Academy in 2010 that has afforded over 300 students the opportunity to travel and learn in East Asia. He has personally traveled to China four times and prefers the bustling and fun streets of Shanghai to the history and slower-paced found in Beijing.
Marcus also serves as a Mentor for the Boys Institute at Stanton Elementary School, a program aimed at developing boys committed to lives characterized by hope, self-discipline, integrity, and love. He previously served as a member of the Board of Trustees at Howard University and currently serves on the Washington, DC Advisory Council of the Hispanic Scholarship Foundation and as a member of the National Academic Advising Association. 
He holds both a bachelor’s degree and JD from Howard University.
